Barry J Martin, Managing Director,
Entire Electrical Services (UK) Ltd.

The owner of an electrical contractors' with 15 employees asked M Powered for coaching. The coaching goals were to:

Improve personal organisation and achieve a work / life balance
Achieve clarity and direction for the business by looking at how to grow it   and creating an appropriate business plan
 Become more proactive in business
Find new ways to market the business

By listening to Barry and observing his enthusiasm for what he used to do I broached the possibility of having a training arm to the business. The immediate response was that it was not possible. Barry was willing to explore the idea, and as a result he now works in partnership with a local college where he runs training courses for electricians. The training side of the business is thriving. He has been able to grow his business in a way that really works for him, while his business partner continues to grow the industrial / commercial side of the business.

Business gained as a direct result of M Powered coaching:
Over £100,000 revenue from training courses - potentially 60 new clients who were attendees on the courses.

Testimony:
My work background for the last 25 years has been in Electrical Training and I felt that I had a great deal of experience to offer in this field, but had no idea how I could use this. By talking this idea through with Maggie I was able to look at it from different angles and my enthusiasm for the project was re-ignited. I have now set up a training arm of the company, which works in partnership with a local college. It is going from strength to strength and I am thoroughly enjoying my work. We have currently gained over £100,000 revenue as a direct result of coaching. My business partner has taken over the running of the electrical contracting side of the company and the company is thriving. Working with Maggie gave me the kick start and motivation I needed to begin to achieve my aims and I have not looked back since. I would recommend anyone to try Maggie's coaching . I can't imagine any business not reaping the benefit of giving their staff coaching sessions with Maggie.

Rachel Hargrave, Director,
The Phoenix Partners.

M Powered Coaching started working with Rachel, the Director of a Marketing Communications Agency in October 2006 having met her through networking.

Together we defined her coaching goals as being:

To grow the business by recruiting the right key people
To increase both turnover and profit
To clearly define the roles within the company
To improve personal organisation in order to achieve the business goals
To write and implement a five year strategic plan to achieve £5m turnover in    five years

After four sessions, a five year plan had not only been written but communicated to the entire company and is now being implemented. Two key people have been recruited and a third actively searched for; roles are clearly defined and the company's turnover has increased by 25% with profit increasing by a further 5%.

Testimony:
For someone who had a near pathological fear of Coaches before meeting Maggie, we have worked happily and constructively together for about three months now. With Maggie's guidance I have developed and, more importantly, am applying a new five year plan in my company which will see The Phoenix Partners really motoring forward and becoming a £5million turnover company in five years time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maggie to anyone who wants to grow their business or themselves!

Ian Briers, Director,
Encore Personnel Services Ltd.

As part of the Lead to Succeed initiative, Business Link introduced Myself to the Director of a very successful recruitment company which set up in business four years previously with one branch. At the time we began working together in June 2006 the company had experienced phenomenal growth and success. They had opened another three branches in the region, had a turnover exceeding £10m and were accredited as the 23rd fastest growing company in the UK in the Sunday Times 'fast track 100 companies'. The company has a very strong ethic towards developing talent and personal development.

The coaching goals were to:

Improve personal organisation, particularly ensuring that time was allocated   to plan and implement a strategy to achieve the goals
Develop and improve effectiveness of managers and teamwork - particularly    in terms of motivation and communication
Improve staff retention by improving motivation, commitment and loyalty of    staff

After several sessions the goals were well on the way to being achieved. I also coach some managers in the company and ran a Training Course for Developing and Improving Relationships in Business for the mangers in March 2007.
While the effects of coaching the Director are not easy to equate to bottom line, I have been informed that the effects of coaching have impacted positively on all 52 members of staff - especially the management team.

Testimony:
After a poor experience with another 'Executive Coach' I was extremely sceptical as to what Maggie would be able to offer me, but after our first coaching session my mind was put at ease that I wouldn't have my fingers burnt twice. Maggie's style is very relaxed and endearing but extremely focused. From this she ascertained an agenda, which enabled me to stand back, take stock and implement some positive changes, not only in my business but also in my personal life. Often taking me out of my comfort zones, Maggie has enabled me to push the boundaries even further and has given me an even greater inner belief. Anyone who is serious about enhancing their own and their business' productivity should 'have a Maggie'.

James Coles, Managing Director,
James Coles & Sons (Nurseries) Ltd.

After an initial consultation with the owner of a long established (third generation) horticultural nursery with approximately 100 employees, it was decided that a team coaching session would be the appropriate starting point.

The coaching goals were to:

• Identify a plan of how to become more proactive in business
• Stabilise and then grow their market-share in a rapidly changing market
Find ways to ensure the ongoing, long term success of the business

The team had one session to create a business plan based around these goals. Subsequently I went on to coach the MD on a one-to-one basis on the following:

Creating clarity around the specific criteria for the Directors roles
 Creating workable succession planning
Creating a 5 year business plan

After six sessions the above plans are now all in place. The MD is now much more confident, as the nursery is being effectively managed and appropriate strategies are in place that will allow the nursery to continue for a fourth generation.

Business gained as a direct result of coaching:
235 new customers and £500,000 increased turnover - more to come

Testimony:
We approached Maggie with a view to coaching us through the process of defining our pathway to proactive sales. It really opened our eyes as to where we could take things. We have since altered our working practices and seen definite benefits in sales productivity and bottom line figures. As a direct result of coaching we have gained 235 new customers and increased turnover by £500,000 and we expect to add more in the next year. I have been able to set out the plan of action for the next few years to really push my company onto bigger and better things. Maggie helps you to focus on the issues that affect productivity and makes you resolve them rather than pushing them under the carpet. I would recommend Maggie and her coaching techniques to anyone that is feeling they aren't fulfilling their true potential.
